I. Core Definition and Function
PPR ordinary plug is a pipeline blocking accessory made of polypropylene (PPR) raw material through injection molding. Its core function is to close the end or temporary port of the PPR pipeline, prevent water leakage and seepage in the pipeline, and at the same time block external impurities (such as sediment, dust) from entering the pipeline, ensuring the tightness of the system.
Compared with special types such as "thickened explosion - proof plug" and "plug with sealing gasket", ordinary plug has no additional strengthening design, focusing on basic blocking needs and having higher cost - performance.
II. Structural and Appearance Features
Material: It is made of pure PPR raw material (without recycled materials), in line with GB/T 18742.2 - 2017 "Polypropylene Pipeline System for Cold and Hot Water" standard, and has certain heat resistance (long - term service temperature ≤70℃) and corrosion resistance.
Structure: It is formed by integral injection molding without complex splicing. The main body is of solid or semi - solid design. The interface end matches the outer diameter of the PPR pipeline, and the inner wall is smooth without burrs.
Appearance:
Round Plug: The head is round.
III. Specifications and Matching Principles
The specifications of ordinary plugs must strictly match the outer diameter of PPR pipelines. The common size correspondences are as follows:
|
Pipeline Specification (Nominal Diameter) |
Pipeline Outer Diameter (mm) |
Ordinary Plug Outer Diameter (mm) |
Examples of Applicable Scenarios |
|
DN15 |
20 |

Household small - diameter water pipes (such as drinking water pipes) |
|
DN20 |
25 |

Main water pipes in kitchens and bathrooms |
|
DN25 |
32 |

Water heater connecting pipes, general engineering pipelines |
Matching Principle: The outer diameter of the plug must be completely consistent with the outer diameter of the pipeline; otherwise, poor sealing after hot melting will be caused due to excessive gaps.
IV. Installation Method
PPR ordinary plugs are mainly connected by hot melting, and the installation steps are simple without special tools:
Pretreatment: Cut off the end of the pipeline with scissors or a pipe cutter to ensure the cut is flat and free of burrs; clean the outer wall of the pipeline and the plug interface with a rag to remove dust and oil.
Hot Melting Preparation: Set the temperature of the hot melting machine to 260℃±10℃. After the temperature is stable, insert the pipeline and the plug into the die heads of the hot melting machine respectively (the pipeline is inserted into the outer die, and the plug is inserted into the inner die).
Hot Melting and Butt Joint: Control the hot melting time according to the size (about 5 - 7 seconds for DN20, about 7 - 10 seconds for DN25). After hot melting is completed, pull out quickly, insert the plug vertically into the pipeline port, and keep it still for 3 - 5 seconds until the interface is cooled and solidified.
Inspection: After cooling, observe whether the interface forms a uniform welding ring (no skew, no bubbles) to ensure qualified sealing.
Summary
PPR ordinary plug is the "basic blocking part" of the pipeline system. With its simple structure, low cost and universal adaptability, it meets the needs of most conventional scenarios. During installation, attention should be paid to hot melting specifications. When selecting models, priority should be given to matching pipeline sizes and brand quality, so as to effectively ensure the sealing performance of blocking.
